Casa de Reyes earned the title of “Best Salsa” in all of Old Town at the Fiesta of Flavors event and fundraiser held last Friday by the Old Town Chamber of Commerce.

“We are proud to serve our award-winning salsa at Casa de Reyes,” says owner Chuck Ross. “Made with the freshest ingredients and a unique blend of traditional Mexican flavors, it really is the best salsa in Old Town.”

Prepared by Chef Fernando MacKenzie, Casa de Reyes’ award-winning salsa beat out a dozen other salsas from restaurants located all around Old Town. In addition to crowning the best salsa in Old Town, the event was a fun way to raise money for future public events in Old Town.

Locals can come taste Casa de Reyes’ salsa when they dine on the recently unveiled “Loco for Locals” menu, which includes an entrée and a house margarita for only $10. This menu will only be available by request throughout September and October at both Barra Barra Saloon and Casa de Reyes in Old Town, and will feature popular menu selections like the Indian Flat Bread taco plate with pollo guisado or slow- roasted carnitas, chicken chimichanga or puerco anchiote torta at Barra Barra, and traditional cheese enchiladas, taco, burrito and tostada plates at Casa de Reyes.

“This is the perfect way to reintroduce our neighbors to Old Town and the all-new Fiesta de Reyes shops and restaurants,” says Ross.  “So many changes have happened in recent months here and we want all San Diegans to come enjoy what’s new.”

Fiesta de Reyes is located at Juan and Calhoun streets, a one-block stroll from the Old Town Trolley Station. In addition to the Casa de Reyes restaurant and Barra Barra Saloon, the plaza boasts 14 specialty stores.  For more information call (619) 297-3100 or visit
