Despite the rainstorm, hundreds came to the Las Posadas procession in Old Town Historic State Park on Saturday, Dec. 12. The 59th annual Las Posadas event was a candlelit procession that re-enacted the biblical story of Mary and Joseph’s search for a birthplace for the Christ child. The procession was lead by professional actors in period costume, including Willie, the acting donkey. Everyone was invited to join the candlelit procession as the players went from inn to inn, asking for symbolic lodging. The performance group Camafeo entertained the crowd and children’s choirs sung traditional Spanish and English holiday songs.
