Spooky Decor in Old Town

October 10, 2011

Halloween décor including Dia de los Muertos altars will be up starting mid-October. Old Town will have more than 30 altars for visitors to see as well as harvest decorations and carved pumpkins. What is sure to be a sight to see is six, life-size Catrina dolls (pictured) right outside of Fiesta de Reyes in Old Town San Diego State Park. On Oct. 29, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park will celebrate fall a la San Diego in the 1870s with a Fall Festival featuring crafts, pumpkin carving, special folklorico performances, and music. On Oct. 31, ghosts and goblins of all ages are invited for complimentary trick-or-treating from 4 to 6:30 p.m. On Nov. 1 and 2, the Dia de los Muertos celebration will feature altar tours, sugar skull decorating, face painting, educational demonstrations and live music.
