Children’s Hat Contest in Old Town on July 4

Calling all mad hatters! Looking for some patriotic attire to show off your American pride this Fourth of July Weekend? At Old Town San Diego State Historic Park there will be a patriotic hat contest on July 4, during the weekend-long Fourth of July celebration.

The contest will be for children ages 5-12 and the entry fee is $1.00, which will include all the hat-making materials needed to create a fabulous headpiece. This contest isn’t just any regular hat-making extravaganza, as the hat kits include a white bag, construction paper, ribbons, flowers and even flags.

Contestants will be allowed to use crayons, glitter, stars to trace, and glue.  The booth will be open from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and the contest will be at 1:30 on the stage. This is something not to miss because there will be ten prizes of Cold Stream Ice Cream coupons, and no kid wants to miss out on free ice cream!!
